Welcome to Acorns Nursery

In Acorns, we love to be creative! We encourage and support the children to develop skills for lifelong learning through adult-led group times and child-led ‘exploring’ time. The children work with their key worker during their group times and play independently during exploring time.

Mrs McGroarty and Miss Hartrey are our class teaching assistants.

Our curriculum covers the seven areas of the Early Years curriculum and is tailored to meet the needs of all of our children, building on their own interests. Our group times are planned carefully by our class teacher and include maths and phonics sessions. We follow the ‘Little Wandle Foundations for Phonics’ programme for Literacy and ‘Master the Curriculum’ for Maths. This is in line with our whole school teaching and learning so that children are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful learners when they start school.

Useful information

We lowered the admission age at Acorns Nursery to enable the school to offer nursery provision to 2-year-old children and families entitled to Working Parent funded hours.

We have our own purpose built Pre-School Nursery on site catering for 2-4 year olds. Please contact the school or see below for further details.

Flexible Funding:

We offer a range of funding options:

- 15 hours funding for eligible 2 year olds

- Universal 15 hours funding for all 3 year olds (from the main term after their 3rd birthday)

- Up to 30 hours funding for working families.

We also accept Tax Free Childcare and childcare vouchers from other providers.

You can use your funding entitlement to cover your child's hours at Acorns.  In line with statutory guidance, we offer funded places on a continuous basis (ie there is no break between sessions which you would be expected to pay for).  Funded hours will be used from the beginning of the week - any hours attended above your funding entitlement will be charged at the appropriate hourly rate.
