Welcome to Acorns Nursery

We value each and every child as an individual, with their own specific set of interests and needs. We do our utmost to ensure that every one of these interests and needs are catered for through a wide range of stimulating and purposeful activities, enabling our children to grow, learn and develop in an environment centred on their happiness, security, capability and independence. We share, care and nurture each other, supporting our children's development to their fullest potential.

Our team comprises Miss Wood, Mrs McGroarty, and Mrs Bradley who support the 28 children on roll.

Our children are the heart of our curriculum. Our pre-school children benefit from experiencing focussed learning delivered in a fun and engaging way within small groups. We lay the foundations for learning by exposing them to phonics, literacy and maths as well as facilitating their communication and personal and social skills in preparation for starting school.

Our two-year-olds access provision tailored to their interests and needs. In addition to this our children benefit from exploring the provision together -  this enables them to build relationships, independence and language skills. We also have weekly outdoor learning, PE, science, music and cooking sessions all of which build our children's confidence and self-esteem.

Acorns has free flow access to a purpose-built outdoor learning environment which is fully utilised on a daily basis by all of our children in all weathers.

In Acorns you can see us exploring the topics Once Upon a Family, Once Upon a Celebration, Once Upon a Time in My World, Once Upon a Change and Once Upon a Sensory Exploration. Our core texts are linked to Nursery rhymes using Little Wandle Foundations for phonics and Letters and Sounds phase 1 aspects.

We are passionate about using our outdoor area and bringing nature into the classroom. We watch bulbs and seeds grow and observe the changes within life cycles of tadpoles and chicks.

Our children are also fortunate to be a part of the Trinity School family and as such have access to the vast array of resources and experiences which we use to support and enhance their journeys with us.
